Setting up a router is very easy and once you have got the router and are connected to it, configuring the router is just a few minutes away. You can follow this quick guide to simply found out your NETGEAR Router.

  1. Plugin the ethernet cable at back of your NETGEAR router and power it on.
  2. Now connect to internet over WiFi and open your web browser and head over to http://www.routerlogin.com or http://www.routerlogin.net.

To install and setup your NETGEAR router using the router web interface

  1. Using an Ethernet cable, connect your modem to the yellow Internet port on the back of your NETGEAR router.
  2. Connect your computer to one of the Ethernet ports on your router.
  3. Press the Power button on the router. The LEDs on the router light.
  4. Open a web browser and enter routerlogin.net. You are prompted to log in.
  5. Log in to the router. The default user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
  6. Click ADVANCED > Setup Wizard.
  7. Select the Yes radio button and click Next. The router detects your Internet connection. You are prompted to log in.
  1. Enter and confirm a new admin password.
  2. Select and answer two security questions.
  3. Click Next. The Congratulations! page displays.
  4. (Optional) Click Print this to print your network settings.
  5. Click Next. The Firmware Update Assistant page displays.
  6. If a firmware update is not available, click OK. Your router is set up.
  7. If a firmware update is available, click yes to update your firmware. The firmware updates. The router reboots. You are prompted to log in.
  8. Enter admin and the new password you created earlier. The BASIC page displays. Your router is set up.

 

To set up and install your NETGEAR router using the NETGEAR Nighthawk app

  1. Download the Nighthawk app.
  2. Attach the provided antennas (if any) and connect your modem to the Internet port on your router.
  3. Power on your router.
  4. Wait for the WiFi LED to light.
  5. Look on the router label for your router’s WiFi network name (SSID) and network key (password). The label is on the rear or bottom of your router.
  1. On your iOS or Android mobile device, tap Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Connect your mobile device to the network that is listed on your router’s label and enter the password.
  3. Launch the NETGEAR router Nighthawk app on your mobile device.

  1. Log into your router.
  2. Click ADVANCED > ADMINISTRATION > Set Password.
  3. Enter the old and new password.
  4. Click Apply to save your change.
